Jaylan Abd Elrahman, Ed.M., is a Chicago-based educator who currently manages the Safe Spaces Project at GirlForward, a national organization that develops and administers educational programming and community support initiatives for refugee and immigrant high school women.

Jaylan also serves as Director of Programs of MALIKAH, where she leads and supports curriculum development and implementation of healing justice, social justice and leadership development programming. Jaylan previously served as an Education Research Associate at RTI International’s Center for Evaluation and Study of Educational Equity. Prior to her work at RTI, Jaylan served in various research roles at the Brooking Institution’s Brown Center on Education Policy, and Harvard University’s Center for Ethics. Jaylan holds an Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, and an B.A. in Psychology from Wellesley College.
