Brandee McHale is the incoming Global Director of Community Investment at Development at Citi.

Previously, McHale served as president of the Wells Fargo Foundation as well as head of Corporate Philanthropy and Community Relations at Wells Fargo & Company. There, she oversaw one of the largest corporate foundations in the U.S., donating $444 million in 2018 alone to accelerate economic opportunity and success in underserved communities. With a strategic focus on housing affordability, small business growth, and financial health, McHale led the company’s philanthropic strategy and combining financial resources with business expertise to help solve these societal challenges. As a member of the company’s leadership team, McHale partnered across Wells Fargo, its 263,000 team members and many stakeholders at a national and local level to strengthen communities.

With more than three decades of experience in the financial services industry and public and private philanthropy, McHale has dedicated her career to developing a forward-thinking portfolio of grant initiatives that connect low-income residents to onramps of economic opportunity and a secure financial future. Most recently she served as president of the Citi Foundation and head of Corporate Citizenship at Citi, responsible for leading the company’s global grant-making strategy, citizenship efforts, volunteerism, and environmental sustainability. Prior to her role with the Citi Foundation, McHale served as Director of Operations for Citi Community Capital. Before that, she served in a variety of business management and philanthropy-related leadership roles in Citi’s Community Relations and Community Reinvestment Act departments, and served as a program officer at the Ford Foundation.

A mother of three children and an active community leader, McHale is based in New York City and serves as Board Chair for Living Cities, a collaborative of the largest philanthropic foundations in the U.S working to close wealth and income gaps, and on the board of directors for Prosperity Now. She formerly served as Chair of the Global Steering Committee for the United Nations Environmental Program Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI) and has served on the board of directors of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and America’s Promise Alliance.
